help i thought i was getting a good deal when i went to a garage sale and bought my son a ps2 for him since i was told i could play dvd's on it as well but when i got home and connected it.......... it need a password does anyone know how to set it on a default or reset the whole system HHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP

Next time, use the forum search, i typed in PS2 parental lock and found the answer easily.
Type in 7444 as a password, that should give you the option to either set a new password or turn off parental lock alltogether.

the friend----- thanks but i tried that password and it did not work for me i am glad it worked for you ..................... any more suggustions out there on how to reset your password on a playstation 2

7444 is the password for US Playstations but apparantly for a PAL (uk) playstation its 4777 worth a try....

Hey, I've got an answer for you. My dad got me a PS2 from a pawn shop and I couldn't play dvds on it because I didn't know the previous owner's code, but I figured it out. It is right that you have to put in the 7444 code, but you don't put it in as the code. When you are asked to enter the code you press select to change to a delete menu, then you enter the code. It will then ask you to reset the code to what you want it to be. It works, I promise!

Inset a DVD and wait until the board comes up telling you that Parental Control is on
At the enter password prompt, hit the Select button
At the Delete password prompt, enter in password 7444
Hit the X button
Then enter your new password in
