i had a xbox 360 with the hitachi drive with the patched firmware all was well untill my xbox360 died.i want to buy a new one but i was told the new xbox360's drives cant be patched to play backups.is this true. But i was wondering can i just buy a new xbox360 and put my old hitachi drive into it? please help

I believe that in order to do this you would have to had saved your drive keys before installing a new one. You can't just go out and buy a new drive and expect it to just work on any xbox that originaly didn't have this drive. I have read about many that failed extracting the keys and other that have had success with this process. But from what I been reading it seems a bit complicated. it is not all the new 360 consoles that have a drive that you can flash it is just a little bit harder with the new drives, and from what i hear the only drive that you can't/hard to do is the new hitachi with the black adhesive or something like that, but it doesn't mean it can't be done.
