Hi, I have a DMS4 Ezi modchip installed on my V9 PS2, but the PS2 has been a little faulty recently, not reading games sometimes.

I was just wondering if I was to puchase another PS2 and carefully remove the chip and put it in the new PS2, would this work?

Would you reccommend it? Has anybody tried it before?

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks

Your laser is probably fried. You have to replace it or get a harddrive. :-)

yes, the chip should still work as long as it is not the chip that is faulty. EZI chips work great, but have their flaws. Like they can come loose because they are not soldered in like other chips.
So seeing if it is loose would be the first thing i did before buying another system.

and if i did buy another one i would go to a place like Teammodders.com and buy a premodded used system with a DMS4 Pro SE soldered in.
I think they still sell the used V7 there which is about the best model Sony has ever made. Yes it will cost you a bit more then Ebay but you will get a quality system with a site that stands behind their work.

if you are going to buy a premodded console I would not but a DMS chip since the support for DMS chips are gone. The support forum is dead.
