I heard somewhere that dvd+r's and dvd rewritables shouldn't be used with the slim PS2's cause it causes too much stress on the lasers of these units. That you should only use dvd-r's. Is this true?

you can't use RW for games but + R works great for me.

agree, +R and -R will be just fine. Although some systems will play the -R better, they should play both.

The RW on the other hand is rarely used by most people.
I have heard that they just do not work well, if at all.

I use nothing but rewritables, in case I want to erase the game and they always work for me. I was just wondering about the laser part but I doubt it now.

I have used both +r and -r but I have no luck with +r. They always skip and freez, but the -r always work. I have a fat ps2. My buddy has a slim ps2 and it is the other way around. -r skip and freez on his ps2, but +r work great. It is strang how one ps2 works with one type and the other won't. As for stress on the laser, as long as you use good media I would think the stress is about the same for all DVD's. Thats the way I look at it.

yeah there have been 15 versions of the PS2 throughout the years, that's one of the reasons people get different results.
