This thread is for people who are looking for a simple way to transfer files to and from their PS2 memory cards, and a PC. The two main reasons for this are to utilize the vast storage capacity of a PC hardrive, and/or to edit game files on the PS2.

Several companies sell adaptors for PS2 memory cards, allowing the file transfer. Some use cables directly connected to a PC, while others can be moved back and forth from PS2 and PC. I have listed as many as I can find. PLEASE read each site carefully. Their products are not all the same, and I can not vouch for any of the companies either. I am also hoping that there are other places to get similar products, and that forum members will post what they know. I will add links to this post as you give them to me in the thread. I want to have a comprehensive thread for the forum, so others can find what they need here.

There are plenty of devices which do this in the context of cheat code products and such (Action Replay, Shark Port, Max Drive, Codebreaker, etc). However, some people just want to transfer files and not have to deal with that other stuff. In addition, those other methods require the use of software to swap in and out, to use an PS2 exploit. That software is on a CD, and many of us have PS2?s that will no longer play a CD. In this case, you will waste your money with these programs, like I did. I also spent a whole weekend trying to find and use tutorials to utilize the PS2 exploit, when all I really wanted was a simple transfer method and some good, straight information. There were no threads that really answered my questions, just bits and pieces here and there.

So that others don?t have to search far and wide to find a simple method of file transferring, and so that they don?t waste their money on products that don?t do what they want (or involves too many other things), this thread was made as a comprehensive thread on the subject. It will only work if everyone contributes what they know about memory card adaptors, including reviews of the products if they have used them, and technical support of the products if you can. I am not an expert in this by any means, in fact all I did was spend the last two days doing forum and internet searches for products, so I can?t help you much beyond what you see here.

I really don't know about the new PS3 Memmory Card Adaptors. From what I read, I thought they were designed to work on your PC. Perhaps SONY only wants them to be used to transfer the files to the PS3 hardrive. But since they are USB compatible there WILL be a way to use them with the PC...one way or another. If for some reason SONY was dumb enough to think they would not (and I don't think they are), someone will have that hacked in a day! I would search around more. I bet it's just a glitch that you can fix. They should be compatible for your PC. Sorry I can't help more.
