I am thinking about buying swap magic 3.6 for my ps2 v14 (slim). I've done some research on various sites and have heard a lot of mixed reviews that have raised a few questions for me.

First of all, it seems like a lot of people have a lot of trouble getting it to work at all. Is this because they don't understand what they're doing, or is it really that difficult? And if it is that difficult, is it worth it in the end?

Second, I am trying to decide what the best method for swapping discs is. I found a tutorial of a kind of ghetto way to disable the sensors for the disc tray. It's called the tape and tissue mod. My main concern with this is it looks like once you do it, you can't close the ps2 at all anymore (unless, of course, you remove the tissue). I like the lack of expense that this method requires, but I don't want my ps2 to collect a ton of dust in it because it's open all the time. I'd much rather have a PS2 that works for a long time than one that can play imported games for a short period of time.

I'm also thinking about buying the flip top, but I have absolutely no idea how it's installed or if it's really even compatible with the slim ps2. If it is compatible, the question again is, is it worth the hassle?

If anyone else has already tried any of these methods on a v14 ps2, please let me know what you did and whether or not you think it was worth it. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

No need for the fliptop. Get Swaptoolpro v2. Use that with your slimline.
No need to open the console, just read the instructions on how to install. But it aint that hard, even use sticky tape if u have to, I did :)
Also is a silver slimline a v14? Cause thats the one I got anyways.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into that. And to answer your question, mine is just the standard black. Anyone else have any advice to offer (maybe on some other tools I haven't thought of or heard of)?
