Flashing from USB Storage Drive?

I have a USB Stick, so I figured I would flash with that instead of a floppy - people say it's better, since it's more reliable.

I formatted the drive using the "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool", with the HPUSBFW Boot Files.

Figured I should test it out first to see if it boots to DOS, and I can't get it to. My motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe board, with Phoenix-AwardBIOS v4.2.47.

I went into the BIOS to change the boot order, and I had the following options (with the results from trying each):

USB-FDD - Boots to HD
USB-HDD - Hangs at "Verifying DMI Pool Data"
USB-ZIP - Boots to HD
USB-CDROM - Boots to HD

(other options were LS120, SCSI, Zip, LAN - didnt try any of those)

The USB Stick is recognized in the boot process though - it says "USB Storage Drive - ScanDisk 256mb" or something like that before it verifys DMI pool data. I have the "USB Keyboard + Legacy Support" Enabled in BIOS, so I can't figure out why it won't boot.

Also, with the boot order set to those options listed above, the ones that say "Boots to HD" don't actually boot to Windows, it just hangs at a black screen and doesn't go any further. When I took the USB Stick out, and restarted, it booted to Windows fine. So something must be wrong :/
