After using a popular patch to modify my TCP/IP stack I got no gains in performace of any kind. After using the same patch to return the TCP/IP stack to "normal" I was having issues concering the speed of my internet connection/internet transfers. So I set about looking for how to reset/repair Windows's TCP/IP stack. And low and behold Microsoft has just such a tool! Heres the link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp...Ben-us%3B299357

You can do what it says manually through command prompt windows OR (and this is what I did) download the file called "Guided Help" it will initiate a command prompt window and do everything for you automatically. After doing this and restarting windows everything worked like before I used the tcp/ip patch!
