Methods i have heard about are.
1. Swap Magic- will work but has it's flaws but a lot of people use it because it is a cheap mod (also need one other mod as Swap Magic alone will not play your games)
2. a modchip- more expensive but if you get a good one it si by far the all around best mod to have.

People talk also about memory card exploits but not sure if those are used to load games.

Check out the softboot ps2 section of this board. There is a few different ways to do it.

But you will need, at the very least, a memory card.
You will find it easier to do if you have ARMax with the usb stick (gamestop/EB is still selling these, though they are getting hard to find).

But go to that section, you will find all the info you need, plus you can ask for help over there.

The only way you can do it without a swap disk is to use USB Advance to put games on a usb harddrive, or if you have an internal hd.
But for playing DVD's backups, you will have to swap some disks.
You don't have to buy the swap magic disks though, there are ways around it. If you have a memory card, there's a way to put the exploit on that using a burnt cd and stuff, it's just easier to do it from ARmax.

You can use any cheats & codes disk e.g, gameshark, Action replay ect....all of them except xploder ones because where as the others alow you to manually put your disk in xploder auto opens your tray. What you need to do is :

1, take off the front cover of you PS2 disk drive (should just unclip)

2, Insirt your cheat disk and click on start game, it will now say please insert your game/disk/dvd ect...

3, DO NOT! press the eject key on your PS2

4, Simply get a credit card or something of similar size and push it in underneath your disk drive about 2cm from the left, after going in about 3-4cm puch the card to the left (far to the left) you cd draw will now open a little so that you can pull it open all the way

5, Put in your copy/backup game

6, close the draw carefully then get a strong paper clip or something of that lenght and thickness

7, push that in to the right as far as possible then push it to the left hand side ( your feeling for the lever being pushed back to the left).

8, then click start game and your done, your copy/backup game should now play. The first couple of times you do this you may find it tricky but after a couple of goes its really easy

Tools needed : Credit card size card, paperclip or split pin or something of that size.

!!!! WARNING!!!!! : This will only work if the cheat & codes disk does not auto open your tray so dont buy an xploder. You should be able to get a good old one that will work from ebay for 99p

Hope this helps. it worked great for me but i got lazy and my codes disk tooo scratched so i bought the new swap magic yesterday and as soon as a friendly person helps me out with copying games i will be happliy playing Final fantasy 12. YAY.

Have fun and i hope it goes well

hmm, interesting. Cool. Thanks for the info Zombie Rot.

I have a question about multi disk games. Like Xenosage 3, it's 2 disks, is there anyway to play backups of it without a mod chip or putting it on a hd?
