I finally got Cars backed up. I went into VobBlanker and killed everything except the two featuretts and the movie and the THX logo (I like the sound in my theater) so - what happens is it play in AC3 5.1 through the opening and THX logo and then when the movie starts it drops to AC3 2.0 - I can go set it in the menu to change to 5.1 and it plays fine. Any idea why? Do you have same results?
As always - I use the Alkohol method of DVDFab - VobBlanker (remove FBI; trailers; etc.) - Shrink or Recode
Any help?

@orion6192
Did you take out all other Audio (including AC3 2.0), except the AC3 5.1? I have VobBlanker took out everything except AC3 5.1 Audio, Main Movie + Menu and so far I don't have any Audio issue at all. Backup came out perfect and yes I owned a 55" Widescreen SONY HDTV that has a built in TruSurround System and CARS sounds pretty good.

Actually I have done it both ways - taken out the 2.0 so all that is avaliable is 5.1 and when the movie plays - no sound - unless I go into setup. I run a Pioneer 5.1 surround sound system with Fiber Optic cables and when it receives a 5.1 signal it goes into full 5.1 w/ sub-woofer - but at 2.0 it only picks up the fronts channels.
Now if I leave both 2.0 and 5.1 selected - it plays - but only 2.0 except through the Menu and THX logo - odd....
Not sure if it has something to do when I took out the THX optimization program. Did you?

That's odd because I took out everything, except AC3 5.1 + Main Movie + Menu only and it's fine with me. Perhaps, it's the setup via your system by a chance? I may be wrong.
Here's what happened on my backup:
* able to setup 5.1 Surround EX via Setup from Menu
* can play with 5.1
* when press Audio via Control, jump to AC3 2.0 (movie played with no Audio because I took it out via Nero Recode)
* when press Audio again via Control, jump back to AC3 5.1 (movie played with 5.1 Audio)
Regards

Strange -
I did it the same way - I even put it on my sons portable player with 2.0 removed and no sound - put in my Panasonic RV30 and no sound - unless I hit the Audio button to change it to 5.1. Every other movie works fine. If I leave both 2.0 and 5.1 it starts out in 2.0 except during the intro stuff (Piston Cup logo, THX logo, Main Menu) then switches to 2.0.

(on all films) i only ever keep the AC3 5.1 audio, ie i never keep any 2.0 or non-5.1 audio (virtually all movies i do are movie only so don't need all the extra fluff)

I have to agree with Orion. I too kept the AC3 5.1 and the beginning plays fine until the movie starts and I have to manually change to 5.1 in the audio setup. No big deal. I just wrote a note in my case for future reference.
