I just don't understand why people buy CloneDvd2. AnyDVD ,DVD Shrink and ImgBurn work great and they are Free well except for AnyDVD. I'll admit CloneDvd2 does make things simple and the sheep are cute but that's it.

Well one thing I like about Clone - since I usually do a full backup - I can do movie only keeping the menus very easyw/ just one click on the keep menus option.
I can also blank out/remove what special features I don't want with one click also. No need to change to a still image like in Shrink to save on compression.
Just my reasons though I do use Recode and Shrink too - just depends on how much if any I'm cutting out.

i don't do many entire disc backups, but when i do, i use clonedvd2 to ripp and reathor without compression the i use shrink or recode2 to compress.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Hey bigwill68
To cut the time down - just use AnyDVD and CloneDVD.
You can uncheck the special features you don't want (I usually just keep the deleted scenes) and remove the foreign audios - for some discs this keeps the compression low.

I totally agree with Binkie7,
In fact, may I add this: Quote: You get what you pay for
The "Free" programs work OK. But for quality, speed & reliablilty, CloneDVD 2 is pretty hard to beat. Especially when used with AnyDVD. Those 2 together have been unstoppable for me in a long time. And, the end result is always crystal clear and High Quality viewing.
In conclusion, I say that if one can afford to buy a couple of DVDs, you can certainly afford to buy CloneDVD 2 & AnyDVD. The "package price" is very inexpensive considering the Lifetime Updates and Quality Software you get.
Happy Thanksgiving Binkie7 and ALL Afterdawn Members!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too bunnyrip :) and of course the rest of aD!
It all comes down to user preference. Use what you works for you.
If you happy w/ it and the results great - that's all that matters in the end.

CloneDVD2 also allows you to back up and or compress larger than normal movie files (By itself, no combining software) that other software free or otherwise would not handle without deleting portions of your disc or file content. With CloneDVD2 you also have the unique option to retain menu access and or capability in "Movie Only" mode. Simply check off "Preserve Menus".:P

Your post indicates you are using AnyDVD. Unless its the trial you are using, ask yourself why you purchased AnyDVD and extrapolate from that point in your reasoning. Same applies to CloneDVD. If you still can not seem to find a good reason to purchase CloneDVD, then why are you using AnyDVD when there ARE free alternatives to that program as well.
