is it ripping or burning the movie that you're having trouble with ?

if it's ripping, try DVDFab Decrypter (free) - http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm then use DVD Shrink on the directory output by DVDFab

i am not sure what the problem is. it said an I/0 device error. how do u use fab? and why wouldn't any dvd work? it is up to date. thank from a newbie.

oh i see, you use AnyDVD, in which case you don't need to try DVDFab Decrypter (well you could, it's the same difference as AnyDVD and free, you could always use it if you had problems with AnyDVD for a particular film). Anyway, i use DVDFab Decrypter followed by DVD Shrink for ALL my movies, well for those that DVD Shrink can't handle on it's lonesome anyway..
