Magic Keys II are compatible with all versions of the Slimline.

The Magic Keys II are made especially so you can close the lid while playing your PS2 game via Swap Magic.

I don't think anyone said that Magic Keys II are better, they're just small tools. Magic Keys II are very cheap and can be found online easily, even more easily if you live in America.
Of course everyone at this point should know that Magic Keys II for the slimline is useless without the swap magic.
