Going from DVD-R to DVD+R problems

My friend just sent me a bunch of games, but they are in DVD-R and I don't like the quality of the disks, he used. So I have ripped them off the DVD-R and put them on DVD+R because I like setting the Book Type of the DVD+R feature, however they won't load now they get hung up. For example he sent me Rule of Rose, but it gets stuck on the Now Loading screen at bottom. Here is the set up i am using

DVD Decrypt (4x)
DVD ImgBurn (4x) with DVD-ROM Book type setting

Have any ideas of how i can get these games to work, After I reimage them?

Maybe you should try using DVD-R to burn PS2 games. You should also trie different programs to burn your games.

I don't want to go to DVD-R because of book type settings. I have no problems playing ripped orginal disks, or from torrents. Just these DVD-R that he sent me. I can play them on my PS2 no problem, but I would rather have them on quailty disks and book typed as DVD-ROM...It is not that don't read or don't boot they just get hung up...and ideas? besides change my media cause that isn't gonna happen.
