SO I want to swap to a larger TOC disc supposedly so I boot up my swap disc, I remove the little piece in the lower right corner(slim ps2) and I insert my ORIGINAL GRAN TURISMO 4 wich should be a pretty damn large game right?and I reinsert the piece removed earlierit starts spinning, but the disc never stops spinning so Naturally I cant switch to a game properly, Is there somehting Im doing blatantly wrong?, AM I stupid?, Is there some otherworldy force at hand?!?!

Is this using swap magic, or the copswap loader used with the Independence Compiler?
If you use the swap magic disc it should just work from there. The Swap Magic disc has got a high TOC and from what I know, it stops the motor from spinning, allowing you to change the discs there and then. Therefore, there is no need for Gran Turismo 4... Also, the original GT4 is dual-layer, so that might affect it as well.
If you are using the Independence Compiler/Cogswap loader method, then try using another original game with a large TOC, that is still single layer.
However you didn't seem to mention anything about when you press X for the cogswap to occur, so if you dont know about this method just ignore what I just wrote.
Not sure if this helps. If you can give more details I might be able to help you out some more.

Well I am using swap magic
I believe I need to refresh my toc because It is freezing horribly often when I play Guitar hero2 and BUlly, and from what IVe gathered on the specific threads pertaining to those two games, I need to refresh my toc or some such, wich I know nearly nothing of and have had no luck at.

May i suggest trying cdloader 7 ? It's pretty much almost the same but i think it's better, works for me and loads practically every game i've tried without skipping (including bully) even with my crappy fujifilm disc... grrr
Oh yeah and i don't think you can use GT4 or daul layer games as high toc swaps, try using a game like final fantasy X or GTA vice city/ san andreas if you own it =)

Even with a Single Layered Disc that's got a high TOC? Or are you still trying GT4?

I will try to list what happens.
I start my ps2 with magic disc in it
it stops spinning.
I take out the disc
I lift up on the little aluminum part in the lower right hand corner of ps2
I place a disc in(ive tried ffx,dmc3,mgs3,gt4,gtavc(its a scratched to hell))
I put the aluminum piece back in
disc spins and never stops spinning.
If i press X to start the game it goes to the screen saying I need to put in a ps2 game or a dvd movie.
and this of course doesnt work for me, soAm I doing something wrong?

I'm not completely sure about Swap Magic, as I use a modchip, but shouldn't you just putin you backup straight after you take the swap magic disc???
Maybe someone who knows more about SM can help you...sorry.

I don't think you can use a copy of GT4 to refresh the TOC because it is dual-layer (at least from my experience with the independence exploit). You should try rebuilding the game which should reduce the games' Table of Contents (TOC - size of the game), followed by your normal swap procedure with Swap Magic. Check the following thread on how to do this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/298097

You can find the latest version here: http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=swapmagic.html At the very bottom there is a link that says "CDLoader v7all" Download that and burn the ISO to a CD-R =)
