Who uses second class media for backing up PS2 games?

I've used first class media and all 4 of them have worked so far. The problem is, that my Best Buy has second class media (the kinda that's supposed to work 80-95% of the time, according to the "Official best media thread" sticky) at a really cheap rate. I was just wondering, those that use second class media, how reliable would you say they are, in your own experiences?

I personally don't use 2nd class media, I use first. However I will speak up for my friend though, he uses second and third class.

He has a ps2 v5 modded with an unknown mod chip (but it play psx/psx backups).
The disc fails to boot every 3 out of 5 times.
The disc fails to load (and freezes) 2 out of every 5 times.
The disc ultimately doesn't work at all 4 out of 5 times.
The laser has been replaced 4 times over the past 2 years.
The discs use tend to produced laser scratches, when in use.

From this, see what you can make up of it.
He doesn't USE 1ST CLASS media, because he buys the games from a pirater who sells him games using crappy arsed media.

I use my first class media on his PS2, and it works flawlessly.

I use Ritek G03 +R's and sometimes Phillips +R's. They run fine, people blame alot of stuff on the media but often its the burn method.

I used Philips 8X DVD-R for over a year, and never had any problems.
Then again for that very reason i disagree with the fact that they would be second class media when i had a 100% success rate.

but when you say second class, are you just refering to them not being a well known name brand. Or did you actually get a media ID number from those DVD's and check them on a media guide?

i used to use 2nd class media when i first started out. never had any problems with the backups... although i was very careful with my burn process and i have a great burner. the reason i did switch over to the good stuff was more because people explained to me that poor quality media puts a large strain on your laser. i realized that the few dollars i saved in media would not be worth having to buy a new system or laser.
