Another way to play backups?

Hi...now i am planning to buy an Xbox 360 for myself this Christmas. I have heard that some local retailer is selling firmware modded Xbox 360, and that was which got me interested. Now i am aware of the fact that the games available for 360 are 7GB+ and which requires a dual layer dvd writer.

But is there any other way of the playing backup games other than burning it on a dual layer dvd? Can u put the image file of the game into 360's hard drive and play it from there? The reason i am asking this is because i dont think i will have any penny left with me after getting a 360, to get myself a new dual layer writer. Consoles and its games are too expensive in this part of the world.

No, you must burn to DVD+R DL discs. If you "were able" to put the .iso on the HDD, you'd eat up 7Gig of a 20Gig HDD.

I wouldnt have mind playing one game at a time, really. But this blows. This might actually alter my decision to buy the console now. Damn. Thanks for the reply though.

Well, you can't mod a ps3 so it's the only next gen system that you can backup your own games for. And with the price of 20 Verbatim is $33 and the burner is another $35, then that's 20 games for the price of 1.
