Hello guys(& gals)! First time posting on these forums even though several times of usage from these forums. Glad to be here now! Now, on to my problem. I have an 80GB Hitachi HDD for PS2. The HDD is about 1 1/2 years old now. At first, installing games via WINHIIP to HDD worked pretty well. Over the past few months though problems continue to worsen. I have about a 25% success rate at getting games onto the HDD without any abort error messages with WINHIIP. These are mostly efforts from PC ISO images from PC to PS2 HDD. There has been some installs directly from PC drive tray but not many. I use the IDE to USB connector(direct hookup to USB port(s) on the PC) to transfer my games. I have replaced the IDE to USB cable kit connection cables 2 different times to see if that would help but to no avail. When transferring files to HDD about 75% of the time I am getting disconnect error messages for the installs from WINHIIP.
Replacing the connection cables hasn't worked to fix the problem. I have also tried using HDL_Dumb to transfer but the same thing happens. There must be a conflict somewhere with Windows because during these abort error messages the hardware icon disappears every time. I haven't tried a reformat of the HDD yet. The games that I've installed from direct PC CD tray drive seems to always work fine but not from PC file. I've seen info about changing the jumper settings on the HDD but I don't know where those are located on the HDD. Where do I find those settings on my Hitachi HDD. How do I change those? Do I need to change those setting while transferring from PC to HDD? HDD plays all my current games on HDD very well so there shouldn't be a problem with the HDD itself. Thanks & any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
