It is my understanding that it is possible to backup xbox 360 games without a mod chip. If this is the case, why buy a mod chip (i.e. globe 360)? Also, how does one flash the firmware to the correct version to make backup possible? Thanks in advance.

its true you can back-up an xbox360 game without the use of a modchip via samsung drive and schtrom extraction program..but is of little use to anyone without the firmware upgrade that you mentioned..i havent heard great things about the chip mod so if your going to do it stick to firmware modding,its far easier and less hassle to fix
