How does 'Deep Analysis' work?

I've searched and searched but cannot find an answer. Does anyone know how shrinks 'Deep Analysis' works?

I know it improves quality and takes longer but what exactly is it doing?

I would guess it's analyzing each cell of the DVD to determine which parts of the picture will compress well (without noticable quality loss) and which parts won't.
