Just got through backing up Pirates Dead Mans Chest. I used the latest verson of Rip it 4 me and the fixit vts the movie decrypted just fine. However, during the burning stage it failed. I then went to the folder where DVD Shrink stored the files and used Nero to back up the movie. Works great.

Haven't used any program except AnyDVD since I purchased and didn't have any problem with Pirates 2 before latest update 6.0.9.2. After ripping to HD with DVD Decypter, my preferred method, used Clone 2, shrunk to ISO and burned without trailers and warnings but with menus etc. Worked fine in all DVD players.
Since Clone 2 allows to burn movie over 2 non DL discs without shrinking I tried it, movie only, to see if any difference played on friends HUGE HD TV. Really could not see any real difference although he indicated was a bit clearer. If DL discs were a bit cheaper would go that route but for now if REALLY want high quality can burn over 2 discs for approx 48 cents US.
I know there are those out there that use all free progs and enjoy the challenge and their advice is and has been extraordinarily helpful. However I don't have the time or energy to really devote to working around all the protections and changes and find AnyDVD a simple and frankly a cheap answer.

To err is human, to really screw up.....use a computer.

Burning stage has "nothing" to do with RipIt4Me, it is entirely your burning engine. Number 1 rule is "don't" auto-burn via Nero, ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter regardless of how strong your burner is capable of burning.

All RipIt4Me does is use DVD Decrypter to rip, it generate a PSL to decrypt/by pass the protections, once DVD Decrypter is done, it called FixVTS to "clean up" and "filter out" any left over junks, tiny or corrupted VTS, PGCs, Cells, etc. Then you can safely transcode your ripped files (VIDEO_TS folder) with DVD Shrink, Nero Recode or any of your desire encoder/transcoder engines.

Other tips to look out:

* make sure firmware is up-to-date
* burning of speed (anywhere from 4X - 8X is highly recommend)
* media (make sure to use 1st class media only)
* don't multi-task
* dump (wipe out) InCD or Roxio from your system if you're using Nero

Best of luck!!

I still just go the easy way, clone and AnyDVD, always works fine, the only thing that bothered me was with clone even after eliminating the junk dead mans cheast was still reading 64% compression, I never go under 70 for my own personel reasons, so I went back with my old trusty that still works many times dvdxcopy from 321 and split it, I was suprized that it worked just fine since it was a disney movie which usually throws a great amount of crap on it, I think maybe disney just gave up on spending time and money by applying crap on it since they made so much money on it so why bother I would quess. But that old dvdxcopy I bought 5 years ago still hangs in there.

Yes just use Shrink to compress and Nero, Decrypter or ImgBurn to burn. Why are you trying to use Decrypter to compress it does not do that it only rips/burns. Try using DVD Fab Decrypter to rip or RipIt4Me. DVD43 has not been updated in a while, it may not be working for this movie. Use DVDFab and VobBlanker. I use RipIt4Me and did movie only and it came out perfect

hey i have a differen't problem with dead mans chest. ripped with dvdfab 3.0.4.0(no problems). ran through VOB just fine.
i decided i would just put it on a dl disc being this movie was so long. so i ran it through imgburn to make the "image file" and then turned around and burned it with imgburn. backed up no problem. plays fine in the pc. but when i play it in my sony stand alone player hooked up to my tv it plays just fine up to the point where the layer break is and when it reaches that point it just starts playing a couple seconds of a chapter then skips to the next and so on and so on.
can someone give me an idea of what happened? it also plays just fine all the way through in my daughters ps2 and my 5 year olds cheapy $30 dvd player. but won't play in my $200 sony! any ideas would be appreciated.

sorry, forgot to mention that i have burned several other dl movies recently and had no problems like this in my sony standalone. superman returns, davinci code, etc.

Possibly there maybe a glitch on the "layer break". I know cheaper DVD players seems to handle most DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW or DVD+R DL than expensive players. My Philips will play anything I throw in there, regardless if it's CD, VCD, SVCD, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD+R DL, NTSC, PAL or whatever regions the DVD from. For some reason, my Philips will beat both my Samsung & Sony DVD players easily. However, I'm sucha "booktype-holic", so all (100%) of my DVD+R and DVD+R DL are "booktyped" into DVD-ROM.

Out of curiosity, did you pressed the "Calculator" and choose the best "layer break" possible, like Green (Excellent) or Blue (Very Good) star?

Here are some useful guides for ImgBurn http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=8e4...1e0&showforum=4

If you are not using the latest AnyDVD either demo or purchased you will have problems. Crack programs do not always work. Yes you should buy it. You cannot use just Decrypter and Shrink alone on this movie. As for RipIt4Me, it works right along with the programs you have, which are DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink.

I think alkohol maybe right about a glitch in the layer break. My ImgBurn DL backup hangs about 2-3sec at the layer break which was chosen by ImgBurn. Then the movie plays fine again till the end.

Use Shrink to compress then burn with whatever program you use to burn with.

You don't run driver type decryption software in the background when you use RipIt4Me. The program usually prompts to turn it off, but if not, don't use it. AnyDVD and DVD43 are a couple more of the same type.

I have been thought heaps of forums trying to find the answer to getting past these cyclic redundancy errors and there has been about as many solutions, this is a step by step guide for what worked for me.

download - AnyDVD 6.0.8.0 upwards i.e.(6.0.8.0 or 6.0.8.5 etc etc)
Download - dvdDecripter 3.5.4.0 or up
download - voblanker 2.1.3.0 or up
download - dvdshrink 3.2 or up
download - Ashampoo Burning Studio 6

okay this is proberly the long way to go about this but it worked for me !

-Insert dvd
-open AnyDVD and have it running in ur task bar
-open dvddecripter and run
-open voblanker and 'process the VIDEO_TS.IFO' file
(this will load a few things into yout voblanker program dont do anything to them just click the process button and the bottom of the program window - make sure you have selected the output folder)
once finised
-open DVD Shrink them choose 'open folder' (go to the folder where you have voblanked too, open
-DVD Shrink will analize the file and once that has finished
'BACKUP'
once shrink has backed up then you can open ashampoo and burn the VIDEO_TS file to your dvd

DONE.

hope this helps.
