Hi blondie4
What versions of AnyDVD and DVDFab are you using?

What's the error?

Won't have this one til Tuesday but you can check the copy protection on it w/ AnyDVD. Check 'show information window for new media' under settings>program settings.
What does this one have on it? So far nothing that AnyDVD or DVDFab can't beat.

Another option is RipIt4Me.

I am also having a really hard time making a copy of See No Evil.
I have tried DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter and finally DVD fab, version 3018 Beta. With DVD Fab it manages to save the files, but whenever I try to open them it gives an error.
Any ideas? Thanks!

@mancislan
Update DVDFab to the latest 3.0.4.0.
link

Give that a go. Still a problem - then use RipIt4Me (link above)

Thanks for the quick reply!
I actually did some research and found two different versions of DVDFAB 3.0.4.0. Gold and Platinum. Apparently it is not a free software any longer. But at least I downloaded free trial versions of both of them. (They will expire in 30 days).
Anyway, I tried the Gold version and it didn't work. But the Platinum worked perfectly.
By the way, the link that you posted is a free trial or a free version without expiration date? Just wondering.
Thanks again.

I know I haven't updated DVDFab in god knows how long but I noticed the extra junk that the disc came with. Regardless, with AnyDVD running, I still ripped the disc with DVDFab, then blanked all the crap I don't want on the disc with VOBB, and then compressed and burned with Shrink/ImgBurn and voila, perfect backup.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

Not a problem there mancislan :)

The link above is to the free one - dvdfab decrypter - just rips the DVD. Like the one you were using.

Thanks for the free version! That's great.
By the way, I just did some testing with the free version and check this out:
After ripping See No Evil with the trial version of DVDFab Platinum, I opened it with DVD Shrink and the quality was 100%. Pretty cool.
But after ripping it again with the free version and opening it with DVD Shrink, the quality is 57.9%.
Why is that? Does the free version do something different than the Platinum?
Just curious.

Since the free version is just the ripping piece your options are limited - full movie or movie only.
The 'non' free version also does the compression to fit to a single layer disc and will burn too.
Might be why one is 100% and the other is 57.9%.
Check the file sizes on both rips - that will tell ya.

@Canucker6
Which link - dvdfab or RipIt4Me?

So you have the movie ripped to the hard drive and you can't open it in Shrink - any error message?

DVDFab, I tried ripit4me along time ago and I couldn't figure it out at all. I got it on the hard drive with Fab, and when I try shrink I think it says a navagiationly error

Ok it sounds like a bad rip w/ DVDFab.

You can try running FixVTS on those files or try RipIt4Me again.
See the link above for it - it has a step by step guide using the 1 click method and is really not that bad at all.

As usual, both DVDFAB Decrypter and RipIt4Me can handle this smoothly.

Best of luck!!

@AmmoChief
Yeah I was kinda surprised this one had so much junk on it and Superman Returns didn't.

What programs have you tried? Any errors?
This one can definitely be backed up.
