Only 40ish channels and freezing pictures!

Hi all,
Right, need some serious help. Just like a lot of ppl, Im new to the dbox scene but Ive read most of the tutorials thoroughly and successfuly flashed by DBOX (German) with a UK sportster image. sp17+_1x_uk05(2xImage).img (Is this the latest btw?)
Anyway, I found a services.xml for my area (London East - NTL, ex C&W) and uploaded that to the zapit folder (should this be emptpy by default or any files in there?)
Now I connected it up and set cable to provider (6952) and did a slow scan. It picked up only about 40ish channels. Now when I view the channels, the picture is not very good or just freezes, the sound comes too but sometimes distored. Some channels are better than others though. My friend brought his dbox round a few weeks ago to test cable connection before I got mine and all channels (200+) worked fine.
So if anyone could PLEASE point me in the right direction would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

try changing your UCode or EMU/SoftCam, settings
press Blue button and then select Sportster - this will allow you to change the setting - PM me if you need further help.

when you do a scan - do you have fast scan on or off.. turn it off and it will find about 250 channels
also do you have a Nokia or Sagem box

for EMU using remote
blue --> blue --> EMU Selection --> Select the EMU and press OK to restart. Leave a few secs and see if the other channels are there.
for UCode
blue --> blue--> System menu --> Hardware Settings --> Ucode Selection and select a different UCode
you will have to rsetart the DBox for changes to come into effect.

Thanks, Ill give that a try but another thing Ive noticed is that I may be using an old sportster image which may be causing the problems, i believe mine is 1.7+. What whould be the latest image and whats the difference between that and a Commando image?
Im using a Nokia Dbox btw.

the difference between the two images would be extra functions with newver images and also decoding or encrypted signal may be more reliable with latest images
I myself run the Sporster 1.7+ UK05 - which is over 12 months old, and for me it works so I am not changing, but once I get my second box will play about with different images.

i'm getting a box from my friend in the next couple of days and he is experiencing problems with the picture it freezes every 5mins and i've been told that it needs a software update what software does it need and where can i find it please

Right, sorry for the delay been pretty busy..
I flashed my box with Commando 6 now it doesnt pick up any channels on a scan. Ive set my location (London-East ex C&W) and even played around with that EMU and Ucode. What settings should they be anyway? So Im pretty stuck now.
HELP!!
