Can't boot up PS1 games over component cable

Hi folks

I hope that this hasn't been asked before (couldn't find anything about it using search), so here goes:

I have recently got my PS2 exploited, and everything is working wonderfully : EXCEPT for the following...

I have a DLP TV which really needs to be using component cable to look good. However, whenever I boot up my PS2 (to the latest UlaunchElf), I just get a black screen - if I change my cables from component to composite, I can see that the uLaunchElf actually HAS loaded correctly, but that the video "freezes" somewhere in the bootup process using component cables. I might add that the same thing happens if I want to boot up any PS1 game, or even when using CD-swap magic

Any ideas? I really don't relish the idea of having to swap cables everytime I want to play a PS2 game :(
