Hi all

Please can you advise me how to copy a dvd and then burn a disc with Nero 7?

I used to copy with DVD Shrink to a video_ts file, then open the file in Nero, add to compalation and burn = hey presto 1 copied dvd.

But now with the newer version of Nero and DVD Shrink I have the following probs.

The films I previously copied to my hd are in a VOB format?? can this be burnt to a dvd and viewed or do I need another type of software?

Also I now seem to get cyclic redundancy failures with DVD Shrink, any ideas???

Thanks in advance all,

With reagrds to the cyclic redundancy failures that normally means it can't crack the encryption and you need to use another program. I downloaded the trial version of dvd express which allows you to rip full dvd's but not re-author.

Then when its ripped it just run the produced files through shrink and its done.

Use Ripit4me. It is a "macro" program that uses DVD Decrypter to rip the disk to your hard drive, FixVTS to clean the file, and DVD Shrink to reauthor/compress. In DVD Shrink, set the target output to an ISO image file. You can then use Nero, DVD Decrypter, or ImgBurn to burn the ISO file to a blank disk. You could also select the target output in Shrink to Burn with Nero. All of the software used by Ripit4me is free. ImgBurn is also free. Links to all the software are in this Ripit4m guide.

Pardon me if I am stating the obvious here, but do you get VOB and IFO and BUP files?

If so but no VIDEO_TS file, then there is no problem, you simply add the selection of VOB,IFO and BUP files into the VIDEO_TS folder in Nero and burn.

I mean you go into Nero suite from programs or youre short cut and select 'Create/Make a DVD Folder' or similar

For some reason you are not getting a VIDEO_TS folder provided when you do the shrink but the information inside is probably good and is the stuff you need.

If your files are larger than 4.4GB you'll need to use DVD Shrink to compress to fit or reauthor or else use a DL disk for burning. If your folder is less than 4.4GB, then burn it with Nero. In Nero Express, choose DVD-Video Files and add the files to the list, select the burn speed and burner, and burn.

You need to store the image at photobucket or imageshack or some other hosting service. Then paste the URL of the image into your post, highlight the URL, and then click the "insert image" icon which is the one with the blue square, red triangle, and green circle. Or you can surround the URL to the photo with the [img] and [/img] tags. Also see the example under html tags at the top of the reply window.

It could be the files need cleaning. I'm not familiar with the protections on that title though. Try running the files through FixVTS before feeding to DVD Shrink.

FixVTS: http://download.videohelp.com/FixVTS/

You could also try Ripit4me which does this automatically for you as part of the process. Guide and software links below:

Looks like you are a file short there.

To have VTS_01_0 and VTS_01_2 and VTS_01_3 you should also have VTS_01_1

As that file is not in the list, the dvd wont burn because the IFO and BUP files are directing your Nero to look for this, if it doesnt find it, it will crash out.

You need to get the missing file back from your original source.

if you dont hav many dvd movies on your pc yu could search for it in file find and enter VTS_01_1 as the file name, you should be able to open it then to check its the right one. perhaps it just got put in the wrong place if so move to same folder as the rest of the files, or if not then its not copied to your hard drive in the first place.
