While trying to open files in Shrink of the dvd Cars I get an error that says: Invalid data in file "C:\CRZONNW7\VIDEO_TS\VTS_10_1.VOB". I copied the files with Decrypter and after getting the error the first time I went to this site to see what was going on and discovered that Decrypter and Shrink can't handle the protections of this movie. So I downloaded the free trial of AnyDVD, ran it in the background and ripped it again. I got the same error. I then tried DVDFab and while analyzing the dvd it aborted with the message: DVDFab has detected CSS encrypted data. Action aborted.
Is it possible to back up Cars at the present time and if so how do I do it? Thanks in advance.

DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running in the background does this movie without any problems. Try a reboot and do movie only.

"Cars" done with AnyDVD-NeroRecode. not a hard one

Try using the AnyDVD ripper by right clicking on Fox head next to clock and select> rip DVD to HDD. The open the files in Shrink and proceed as usual.

I did Cars by ripping with Decrypter, ISO Read mode, reauthor Main Movie only with Shrink and then burn with Decrypter, ISO Write. No special protection on my Region 1 flick. What region is yours?

Thanks for all the help. I'm not completely sure how to check which region it is but I got the dvd at a Wal-Mart in Washington state if that tells you anything. I was finally successful in backing it up using DVDFab and Shrink. Interestingly enough that combination worked but it didn't work running AnyDVD and then using Shrink for the burn process. I initially tried colw's suggestion of trying again after a reboot but I got the same result.
I'm still pretty new at this. It seems to me from reading several posts on this site that methods and software used to backup certain dvds work for some people but for some reason will not work for others. Cars is a perfect example because some people say it's an easy one to back up while others who try the same things have a hell of a time of it.
Thanks again for the responses.

One reason for the the "easy-hard levels of backingup" is because the DVDs are not all same world wide, i.e. they have different encryptions in different countries.

yup, i've used 3.0.4.0 a few times now. if your existing version is working i'd stick with it. just keep your eyes peeled for new versions, i check a few times a week and keep all the install exe files just in case..

go for it, i always personally upgrade straight away, i was thinking more of newcomers to the thread who are usually wary of upgrading stuff

edit- as i say, i keep all versions so i can always revert to an older version if a version has problems
