Hello- I've been trying a few different free dvd burning programs the newest one I've tried is DVD Decrypter along with Folder2los ver.1.3 - Now I've followed the directions in this guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/...d_decrypter.cfm

and am running into problems- Heres what I did- I used dvd drcrypter to rip the movie and save into a folder- once the dvd is ripped I put all the files into a Video_ts folder and create and Audio_TS folder and leave it blank like it says- Then I bring up Folder2lso and follow the directions and on the select output files is where I run into problems- I make a folder on my desktop- with the name of the movie I am copying and put that as my output- but it just opens the folder I created and is looking for me to save something there but the folder is blank- I don't know how to do this and in the directions it doesn't say anything but select a folder- so I created one and selected it but it wont let me use it as out put! So what do I do? or where am I screwing up at? Please help!!!! Thanks in advance

This guide is a year and a half old...why don't you just use Ripit4Me or DVDFab Decrypter to rip and then Imgburn to burn?

Alright I used those programs and get the same message when trying to play the burned DVD- Disk is not formatted- Windows cannont read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows. Any suggestions?

LOCOENG gave yo u many great guides to pick from! but you are having a disk problem. try changing your media to DVD+R or DVD-R, 8x media. What burner do you have (make and model #)? and what movie are you trying to burn? And what media are you trying to burn to? A little more info please.

oh..... I forgot to mention...... WELCOME TO AFTERDAWN
and here is some great NEWBIE advise:

I suggest you go to the GLOSSARY tab and learn the lingo. your DL burner is capable of burning DVD9s which are Dual Layer Disks (DVD+-R,DL) check out the glossary for more terms: DVD-9, DVD-5, DVD+R DL, and so forth..... this way you'll get first hand knowledge of what's what.

now you want to know how to use your burner..... I suggest, you being a newbie, to go to this guide page and learn all you can:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial007.html
check everything out..... the guides, the software, the FAQs. this will start you off to doing everything. and if you want to read more:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136
this is a little more advanced for a newbie but it will make you grow and learn! adn here are some more tips of the trade for a newbie:

1. use good media will stop many problems you might run into. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, Sony..... look for the ones Made In Japan. the exception to this rule is Verbatim.
2. burn at half the rated speed of your media (if the disk is an 8x media speed then burn at 4x). This will stop reading errors from your player.
3. Don't burn too close to the edge of the media. 4484MB is the max and on good media you can go as close as 4400.... to be sure I only go up to 4384MB just in case and I use Taiyo Yuden where I know my buddies go up to 4400 without any problems.
4. keep your firmware up do date..... this will make your writer recognize all the disks and burning speeds and other improvements with the software of your drive.
5. keep the source disk free of finger prints, dust or scratches. this will prevent a lot of reading errors that could/will make your drive slip into PIO mode which will slow your system down...... if that ever happens, you need to reset your drive to turn your DMA on... here's how: http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues

Hey Ihoe- Thanks for the reply and help! Well the disks I'm trying to burn on are Hp invent DVD+R 16X- Now I was using DVD Shrink before hand with the free Nero and I got 2 dvds burned that worked and after that none of them worked so I tried a few diffrent programs and am having the same problem with them- they copy and burn but will not play- Also I was trying to burn the Superman Returns movie- and as far as my burner goes- I'm not sure what burner it is- It's on a compaq presario notebook the r3000 model if that helps at all- So again I don't know if I'm screwing up somewhere or if my burner went bad- but I followed the guide and still got the same result as I did with DVD Shrink- Also I dont know why that would have stoped working- I tried a few different movies- superman included and it wouldn't work on that either- so anymore ideas would be appreciated- Thanks again!

as ihoe stated use quailty media.

Notice HP discs aren't on the list rapture, Verbatims are strongly recommended and easily found locally.
