Got my xbox 360 last night, played COD2 for about an hour and then watched a movie oon it. Went to turn it on this morning and all I got was a blank green screen. I could hear the audio fine and could tell that it booted to the 360 menus. I have the premium console and it's hooked up through component cables. I checked the cables and even tried another input on my tv. It's hooked up to a Westinghouse 32" LCD TV.

I had the same problem with my first 360: I couldn't get the picture. I had stupidly been switching between the standard cables and the VGA cables with the 360 still on, and I figured that stuffed my cables.

I took the console back and got a new one, but...

Just last week the same thing happened. This time I looked around more, and realized that I'd accidentally switched the cable at the back of the 360 over to HD instead of standard.

Is it that?

I wish, when I first started the machine last night I went through the menu and turned it up to 1080 resolution and switched the cable to HD in the back of the console. Everything worked fine. I started it up this morning and wham just bright green screen. I checked the cables, tried a new input and even tried moving the switch to TV. I've been searching around forums all day and really haven't found any problem similar to this. Is there a way I can reset my 360 back to it's original defaults without being able to see the menus?

yeah you can flick the switch from the video output back to standard TV and see if that will work for you.

just on a side note make sure that the video connection is fully in to the back of the xbox cause it may sometimes feel like it is buts its actually on 3/4 of the way in. Im sure u have tried this but just incase you didnt. :)

If you're running in HD, try flipping the plugging it into standard (red, white, yellow) connections and flipping the switch to see if you get menu's that way. Also, if you just bought it, you should have no problems exchanging it for a new one, it's a little inconvienent but well worth it if you think there might be a problem with the console. Good luck.

Well after ramming my head off the wall for a couple of hours, I traced the problem to the LCD TV itself. Somehow during the night "when everything was turned off" the component inputs on my Westinghouse 32" LCD went bad, I was able to get to the xbox menu by taking the green component cable and plugging it into the composite(yellow) input of the TV. Now I just have to figure out why the TV went bad and if it could be a recurring problem if I exchange the TV. Has anyone heard of the 360 doing anything like this to a tv?
