simple question :)....does burning an iso file straight to CD-R effectively mean that u then have an exact copy of the disk the iso file was burned from?

cheers chaps

Its a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it...

Depends on what your backing up m8. If the iso was a Safedisc 2.8.x image (C&C Generals=example), then your backup is "modified" and proper hardware (cdrw) is needed to play the backup. If you don't own the "right" burner then you'll need the aid of emulation (atip tool=hide cd-r\ignore media type) to play the backup (burner only).
Same applies when backing up SecuROM 4.8.3^up(iso= Unreal Tournament 2003).

I've actually DL the iso file, is it possible to find what protection is on it before burning it to disk?

Cheers

AOM= Safedisc cd protected m8. Use Alcohol 120% using the Safedisc 2 datatype profile to burn the iso's. I need to know the name brand& model of your burner before you burn.

According to Team Elby supported writers (CloneCD), this drive is a "2 sheep burner" (EFM encoding). I believe I read a post that this particular drive has some issues playing written data in RAW DAO mode in the drive itself. Check the LG (Lucky Goldstar\Hitachi) main website for a firmware update. For now, use Alcohol 120% Safedisc 2 datatype profile burning RAW DAO at 8x. Play the backup in your LG drive without any emulation and see if the backup will install\play (it should). if by chance it don't then try another drive (if applicable) and update the firmware. I use a very easy program called MTK Win Flash (IDE mode) and flash my drives right from my desktop. Search Google for "The Firmware Page" if you can't find a firmware update at the main website.
