Hi, yorto,

I'll try that tomorrow, and thanks for the link creaky. I have all those progs! so I'll be trying all of those.

I do like DVDFabdecrypter but had some problems in the past. Been stuck on v2.9.8.3. 'cause every time I updated, I seemed to get even more problems.

I think for a freebie, it's the best FREE program around. And of course all the others, VobBlanker et al. I don't want to go on too much, but I have to say I LOVE u afterdawn.

no problem. i've used most of the latest versions of DVDFab Decrypter and i only had trouble with a couple movies, that were fixed in later updates; what i do is keep the install exe file for each version on your hard drive, try the latest out and if it doesn't work, just install the next oldest...

That's surprising. I thought this thing would be loaded with encryptions. It wouldn't scare me if it was though. I'm always ready ;)

Now, this is interesting, {by the way, not multi-tasking, just back on my super go faster! with stripes! computer}

While looking for DVDFab, I was offered v.3.0.4.0.

Hey! that was funny, I just heard the welcome peel of DVDFab completing it's task. I think I'll go straight to shrink and see what happens.

Pause, while I shuffle up the hall!..................shuffles back up hall, Oh well! back to basics.

'tis indeed a nice thing to see DVDFab make mincemeat of movies :P

it was on the normal webpage of DVDFab at the time, didn't use it more than a couple times though as 3.0.4.0 came out pretty soon after

Like I've said before, I never cease to be truly astonished at how these programs work. As you know, I downloaded dvdfab3.0.4.0. and immediately ran into problems.

Although dvdfab did it's job, Shrink couldn't find the files and nor could voblanker. Might have been me, as I've been away for a while.

Anyway, job done!

Got rid of all foreign language files, Kept 5.1 english and 2 channel english, DVDShrink size, 4360 and a nice new shiny Verbatim AZO 8x+R.

Compression came out at 62.9%

And the big question? With DVDFabdecrypter v2.9.8. and DVDShrink and burning with Nero.

I really don't get this, 'cause everytime I try to update Fab, I seem to get problems. Is it me?

Anyway, 3 very big cheers for DVDFabdecrypter.

- you're just unlucky :P

i never have problems, but it's probably just because here in the UK most of the hard work with the encryptions has been done by the time we get the program updates. The only trouble i recall having lately was with 'The Break-up', one of the DVDFab versions couldn't hack it (well it almost could, it was making Shrink barf due to DVDFab not having fully done it's magic on the movie files), then i tried one of the Beta versions then it was sorted. ...only to be disappointed by the movie itself, it was a bit pants

Well I think that the the fact of the matter is, is that it did work, and that I shall continue to use DVDFabdecrypterv.2.9.8.03? together with DVDShrink and burn with Nero.

if you're happy with it, keep at that version if you like, then maybe just update if and when that version hits a movie it can't cope with. I sometimes stick with a version of a program (for ages) if it's fine, then sometimes i update often just for the hell of it, then sometimes i revert to sticking with something for ages. As long as my ripping and/or burning is consistent, i'm happy

Yes I am happy with the ripping and burning, I wathed the movie last night, and it played flawlessley - actually, a lot of fun - I remember doing The Da Vinci code the same way and that too, came out fine.

I guess its me and this crazy uk weather,

Although I did have a problem with Layer Cake, Maybe try that one again at a later date, but it still baffles me! (probably I/O, dirty disc.

I also have an alternate burning method as Nero let me down once or twice. I couldnt be bothered to get into the whys @ wherefores at the time, Just opened up the other burning program and let it do its stuff.

Aren't we lucky on here with all these knowledgable people leading us always in the right direcetion. Baz

Sorry about spelling, feeling a bit tired. Oh! just by the way, I kept the subtitles ON..........Baz

I've had a problem on a couple of movies, mostly Sony stuff.

DVDFAB decrypted, then after shrink did its thing, it would fail to transfer the files to Nero for burning, so ... I snuck over to the folder where Shrink placed the the shrunk files, opened them in Nero copied them to the DVDVideo function and it burned one of the more recent movies perfectly, even though it gave me a caution about the video might not be playable.

It played perfectly on my home theater.

- just run VobBlanker after the DVDFab stage and before DVD Shrink, problem sorted, but in your case they played, that's not always the case

Oh, by the way, I did run the file through VolBlanker.

I still got the sort error before burning, but the files looked good coming out of Volblanker so that's why I decided to take a shot.

ON this one it worked.
