Archos AV500 Read access error help!

Hey can someone help.

I have a 100G Archos AV500 and when on power up it comes up intermittently with a read access error - can't read from hard drive

If I do a hard reset will it go away and... how do I do a hard reset?

Can anyone help as I am almost having kittens
