its a Toshiba-samsung, but the sticker on the back says 19-9-2006

can this still be modded?

Probably a Tosihba-Samsung MS28. Blind wild guess though.

Open the 360 and you will see a firmware number on the DVD drive itself. It's probably a MS28. Open it and you tell me. But I'm sure it's flashable.

It will prob be a MS28 like Menace said, which can be flashed, but you need a Sata card with a VIA chipset to do it.Or if your experienced with Soldering you can go down that route. But personally I would get a VIA chipset.

Yeah I just got a M28 and ordered the SATA card everyone says works from Mwave.com. Newegg was sold out as usual. Now I have to wait until like Tuesday or Wednesday to flash my drive but it sounds so much easier this way. I'm just glad I got lucky at Wal-Mart last night and got a M28 as I have a 78fk sitting here as well. I need to return that one.
