I just installed a DVR-A06U. The manual says that the region can be changed a max of 5 times. The last change would be permanent. The manual does not explain how to change the region. Does anybody have the details? would the two switches beside the "master/CS/slave" be the what I need to configure it?

FW1.06 is the latest I've seen for the Pioneer DVRa06/106 and the relevant info is here

You mat need to still run software such as Region Killer [ see Afterdawn software section for free d/l ].

The switches on DVD Burner have nothing to do with Region , that I can assure you...

I think the FW106 is a Pioneer firmware so it will be RPC 2 most. An RPC 1 version will come available soon so that your drive can be maed multiregional.

control panel -> system -> harware tab -> device manager -> right click on your dvd drive -> properties -> advanced settings tab.

set it there.

also, you can change it 5 times, then install a new firmware, and change it 5 more times. i'm not sure how many times you can install new firmware. on 1 drive i am limited to installing firmware 4 times. thus, 5 X 4 = 20 times changing the region.

i use dvdgenie instead.
