Hey Everyone

I've owned a Ps2 for many years, having the original version 1 Ps2 up untill recently when the poor thing finally gave it's last breathe and Died.
Upon trading that into Eb Games ( Suckers! ) I am in the market to buy a Ps2, the issue being the only Model here is the newest/latest PAL Slim line Model ( I'm in Australia ).

Anyways, I made my old Version 1 Ps2 region free by getting a mod chip installed, however it cost me $400 at the time and I really dont want to pay that again.

Some people have told me there's a few exploits to making the Slim line read Backup/Region NTSC/Jap Discs. I was wondering if anyone here could run me through my options and estimated pricing on making this Ps2 able to play American/Japanese and Backup games.

If possible I'd like to avoid chipping and opening the PS2 as I want to keep the warranty in tact.
What's the best option and how much will it cost?

Thankyou

swap magic should do the trick.......but i think you have to buy the magic keys as well for the slim version.....but not sure

and $400 for installing a modchip!!!!!!!!!! thats alot..... i just bought a modchip for less than $50 and installing it was another $50.....free if you do it yourself

a mod chip is still your best option.
Swap Magic and a set of magic keys will work but is not the best at converting the different screen rates. And unless it has greatly improved over the years it would have some screen cut off when playing games from other regions.
have you checked out http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/index.html
they are in Australia. Only problem is their chip selection is weak. The best chip they cary is the Duo3 which will work fine. But the rest of what they sell is junk. The duo3 installed is like $125
plus shipping of course. They are a little behind the times as they still sell DMS3 chips which have been replaced by DMS4 chips quite a while ago. If they had a DMS4 Pro chip i would have told you to go with that one.
