What software do I use to copy DVDs to CDs using only a CD-R???

Hi guys, I've looked for over an hour for the answer to this. So hopefully you can help.

I only have a CD writer and want to make copies of my DVDs if I can.

My wee baby boy has killed 3 of my DVD movies so far (much to my displeasure) and I have heard I can make copies of the DVDs onto standard CDs.

Is this possible? And if so, what programme(s) should I use. Hopefully they are freeware (Grin)

I only have a CD writer so none of the DVD copying software I've found works, but Im sure there is something that will do the job.

lol - If only, im afraid you cannot!

No way at all. Even if you are reading a guide on some site that says otherwise, trust me, it cant be done. What you can do is rip a DVD with a DVD ROM and compress it to DivX with a program like EasyDivX or MrDivX and burn with a CD. But it will not palyback in your DVD player.

Apparently 321 Studios came out with DVDXCOPY Gold which is supposed to copy 1 DVD movie onto 2 CD-R's, I don't know how good it works or what the quality is but I do know that it's not freeware.

Actually i misread the question. I thought you wanted to try to burn a DVD R with a CD Writer, which has been asked on this forum again. You can out DVD's onto 1 or even 2 CD's, but the likely hood is that if you covnert it to an mpeg4 format - Xvid/DivX, you will not be able to play it on your normal DVD player.
