How do I know what if I have one of those? What does MTK even stand for?

I need to know because it says you have to have one of those connected to you PC when you do the m28 flash.

I think you are mistaken. I never heard of any cd/dvd with mtk. Where did you hear about this? Just mtkflash.exe, and mtkflash.typ. I flashed my ms28 with a floppy and 0 drives connected to my pc.

Oh yeah I have seen that. A SATA CD/DVD-ROM with a MTK chipset. You dont have to have that to flash a MS28 drive. Use the floppy and instructions I included in your other post.

It is for flashing a MS28 using a SATA PCI card with VIA chipset. Disconnect all drives in your pc temporally and boot the floppy. Follow the instructions. Original post where these instructions came from:

Ok but why do you keep saying Xtreme 4.2b instead of 4.2a? I was gonna use 4.2a because the loading would be faster and I would be using high quality media.

doesn't matter if its a or b. Just different read speed. I saw a post somewhere that recommended b, so I used it.
