Just yesterday i got myself a modded Xbox 360 (Hitachi version). This is the only shop we get it in this region (the modded boxes, of course). So i brought it home, plugged it in, set it up and switched it on. Ooo...nice Xbox logo...then Boom! "System Error. Please contact Microsoft" blah blah. The error code is E67. That means hard driver failure.

The hard drive is not completely dead. It works but i have to switch the console on and off a couple of times before it loads up. If i remove the HDD it works flawlessly.

Now my question is, is there any kind of solution that i could do? Microsoft, of course, will not repair it for me and the shop owner doesnt provide any warranty either (though i will pursue him to give me a new HDD or a console). Will a new HDD solve the problem or will i want a new console altogether?

Please reply. Thanks.

You can try to reformat it. System> Memory> (hard drive) Device Options> Format.

Make sure it's plugged in good. I've seen that problem because someone didn't hook the HDD up right and it was loose.

Nevermind. Took it to the shop and got it replaced with a new piece. The owner is a nice person. God bless his soul :) Now the console works perfectly, loads up quickly and no problems as of yet.

@PS2M- Yup i had seen to those. Everything was plugged in perfectly. I had even tried pushing HDD while Xbox was loading. Lol.

@bhetrick- Thanks for the tip. I will keep that in mind when and if (and hopefully not) that problem occurs.

Btw, an offtopic question. How the hell do you rip music and other stuff from a CD/DVD to the HDD??
