Hey,

I suggest you download yourself a copy of Nero:

http://ww2.nero.com/enu/index.html

Using that, you can effortlessly burn Data DVD's, as well as a host of other things, grab yourself a Nero 7 trial. Use good media and keep your firmware updated and you should be fine.

It really depends on the codec that was used for the DivX/Xvid file and the brand of player you bought.(There are different codecs used when making DivX/Xvid files and some players are more compatible then others when it comes to how many different codecs it can read) I have a Philips DivX/Xvid player that plays pretty much all DivX/Xvid files out there. But I also have a Magnavox that I constantly have problems with playing DivX/Xvid files. I find myself recoding those files to compliant DivX/Xvid codecs for that player.

But yes it is pretty simple to do. As Rav said above get Nero or any program that will burn Data DVD disc and just burn the files onto the DVD and play. I actually use DVD -/+ RW's so I can just reuse the disc over and over after watching the video files on the disc.

But in most cases you should have no trouble playing the files as a data Disc.

cheers guys, and yeah im a customer of Nero.

cheers for the info.
i did encountered one problem earlier though: i had a host of AVI files with just one mpeg. so i re-encoded the mpeg to AVI (DivX) and when i burned to data disc and played in the dvd player. that one files audio was out of sync. where as the others were all totally fine.

does anyone know any goo0d conversion software? to convert anything to XviD or DivX

thanks

@falonga

Have you tried to burn the mpeg and play it. I know on my Phileps it can play mpeg also.

As to converting from Mpeg or DVD to DivX/Xvid AutoGK is a good program to use.

@ MarkDogg1

that program doesnt seem like it has any advantage over any really?? am i wrong or....? becasue really as long as the program (whatever one it may be) burns data DVD's then its awesome! and will work and yup always using verbatim discs now

@larrylje

oo i will have to try burning and playing the mpeg. i have a packard bell DivX dvd player. it retails for about £50 gbp. so i think its top form (ish')

and the program link is great, cheers! will be using that
