this is starting to get annoying. get rid of the sky pic, the youtube link and the countdown gif, ASAP

umm...softmodding is not illegal. it's the hardmods that are. even then, it's not illegal to buy or install the chips, only to flash a bios onto them and make them functional in the xbox. at least, that's how it works in the US. i can't vouch for other nations.
also, in the US, backups are legal. someone said they aren't. they way it works is this: you are allowed to have one legal backup of whatever digital media you own. however, copy protection circumvention itself is illegal, leaving you between a rock and hard place, eh?

Yes, that's why on the front of the disc, it says "Do not make illegal copies of this disc.

exactly. if it said "do not make copies," that would mean all copies were illegal. however, since it says "do not make illegal copies," some form of copy must be legal. adds more to the confusion, eh? :(
