PAL to NTSC conversion?

Hi all, my buddy bought a music-related dvd from the U.K. and it is PAL.
He wants to know whether it can be converted to NTSCfor use here in the U.S.?
Or is there another option? Thanks.

Rip the files to the hard to remove any region codes or protection w/ something like DVDFab Decrypter.
Then change them from PAL to NTSC w/ VobBlanker (free). Works for most dvd players.

Can any of this be done with Adobe Premiere? Will there be any alteration to the dvd contents?

I'm not too sure on Adobe Premiere since I don't use it.

Vobblanker somehow 'masks' the files to appear as NTSC format. It takes maybe 5 mins to process then you burn those processed files. Just need to make sure you change each file.

The one thing that trickier to do w/ the programs that convert the format to NTSC is the menus. That I haven't done.

If you have Nero Vision or ConvertXtoDVD - they also will convert PAL to NTSC - they do a true conversion and will take longer - say an hour or more depending on the pc specs and size of the dvd.

How abpout a camcorder tape that is recorded in PAL? what do you recommend to convert it to NTSC format?

hmmm I've never done camcorder conversions. But you can probably use Nero's Vision to capture the video to your hard drive (need a video capture card). Then use Vision to convert it to NTSC & a dvd complaint format. (id that's what you're looking to do)
May take a bit of time.

No clue but maybe they're not that bad price wise.

Getting out of my league here but check the manual on the camcorder - may be a way using usb or firewire to copy the video to the pc's hard drive that way. It might have come with software to the handle it. But not 100% sure on all this - sorry.
