is there a way to softmod without doing all that stuff with the action replay and splinter cell what i am trying to say is i want to softmod but i don't have the stuff needed to do so but my friend told me he did it without all that stuff and just connected it to his computer through a ethernet cable

I dont think you can do what your friend did. Just buy a modchip.
