ok i've looked everywhere but there doesn't seem to be a right answer. My question is that does devhook write to the psp's flash in anyway during the programs usage? I know that it had to write to flash installing it with x-flash. But i'm just wondering overall if it write to flash. Especially when i use other firmware like 2.71. My current psp's firmware is 1.50.

DevHook 0.46 doesn't flash at all.
However the new DevHook 0.51 does flash. However it is very safe as it only writes a small configfile to flash1 and it doesnt overwrite/delete anything. Plus it only flashes the first time you run it and after that there is no risk. Just make sure you have a full battery and the AC adapter plugged in when flashing.

BTW you should use the new DevHook 0.51 as it emulates firmware 3.02, see my guide:

yeah but you can flash it if you chose to i would say dont do it unless u have custome firmware

The DevHook flashing isn't that risky. Plus it wouldn't help if you had custom firmware and your PSP's flash1 got corrupted. This is because if the IPL in flash1 was corrupted/deleted your PSP couldn't boot and you couldn't get into recovery mode or anything.

what do you neccesarily mean by "if i chose to". Is there a option to enable flashing? I've looked through the devhook menu and noticed that there is some flashing options. What do each of those options do? There really should be a guide explaining everything thoroughly. >.>

It would be helpfull if you have read my initial post. Also, it would be convenient if you didn't waste precious forum space by creating worthless topics such as "whats a psp".

There is an installer which doesnt flash. DevHook 0.51 flashes some configfiles to flash1 which it requires to run.
