Hello,
ya as the title says im new here to the PSP scene (homebrew and iso's)... and i have a psp firmware 2.6 and i wanted too know, Where do i start?... I have the killzone liberation- iso and wanted to know what i need to do to get running...
can i run iso's on 2.6?
what programs do i use?
where do i start?
what firmwares do run iso's... etc...

Hello and welcome to Afterdawn.
I assume you got your PSP with 2.60 so that means it will be a TA-082 Motherboard. You can not downgrade to 1.50 which can do all that you want. 2.60 can not play ISOs. You can upgrade to 2.71 which can run ISOs. Follow this guide to set yourself up - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/413913
You will be using Devhook to play your ISOs and homebrew.
Firmwares 1.50 and 2.71 can run ISOs

well i kinda lied, i dint just get my psp but owell... i really dont kknow anything but i did have 1.52 when i bought it (the box had the letter "c" on it" then i upgraded to 2.6... please tell me more about the 2.71? can it run homebrew and all that and iso's?... oh and i dont have the TA-082 btw

If you dont have a TA-082 mobo then upgrade to 2.71 and downgrade to 1.50...the install devhook 0.51 and then you can run iso.

Yeah firmware 2.71 is now able to run homebrew and ISOs. Follow these steps:
1. Download the firmware 2.71 update from here:
http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/47
2. Put the update EBOOT.PBP into X:\PSP\GAME\ (where X is the drive letter of your PSP).
3. Make sure you have your AC adapter plugged in and a full battery and then go to GAME-->Memory STick and select the update.
4. Once you have finished the update, follow this guide to run ISOs and homebrew on your firmware 2.71 PSP:

oh it says something about palying the iso with a usb cable or somnething, does that mean i have to be connected to the computer to play it??? i want to play it on the go...

It will work with a non-ta082! Yeah to be able to run the new ISOs you have to emulate 3.00/3.01/3.02/.

yes... just did everything and it works like a charm.... i have a few questions that i wanted to clear up though....:
everytime i reset my PSP how come it doesnt stay on the emulated 3.01?? i have to go and redo "D" again...
how do i go back to just regular 2.71 with nothing on it (back to normal)?
this runs homebrew just the same as 1.5???
oh and for iso, i just put the ISO folder that i got in the root folder right?

Yeah you put the ISO folder in the root of your memory stick (i.e X:\ where X is the drive letter of your PSP).
Yeah you have to start DevHook each time you reset your PSP. Theres no way you can stop that :) However you could downgrade to firmware 1.5 and then upgarde to 2.71 SE-C (a special edition of 2.71 which has all the homebrew features of 1.5 and more) and then use a DevHook autoboot plugin.
Running homebrew on 2.71 is a little different. You must run HEND then DevHook 0.4X (not 0.51) and then emulate 1.5 and run the homebrew. This process is long so since you have a non-ta-082 motherboard I recommend that you downgrade to 1.5.

But after you downgrade to 1.5, you can upgrade to 2.71 SE-C (a special hacked version of firmware 2.71). Firmware 2.71 SE-C has the homebrew abilities of 1.5 and all the features (RSS,web browser etc) of 2.71. Yeah you will have to emulate 3.02 to play new ISOs (you have to do this in firmware 2.71 anyway :) ). And yeah the process is alot shorter, just go to GAME-->Memory Stick and run the game (no need for HEND and waiting for it to auto-reset).

i think im going to do this... where can i downgrade and where can i get the special version of 2.71 SE-C... oh and if i install the 2.71 SE-C will i ever be able to upgrade or downgrade to a reglar firmware again..

k kool, i have 1.5 now.... is there any danger (damage) to keep on downgrading/ upgrading (flashing) the psp alot of times...? (does it put on wear and tear?)
