I couldn't seem to find the answer to this specifically so I started a new thread. I have a lot of backed up N64 roms that I play with PJ64. Has anyone found a way to play these (.n64, .z64, etc.) backups on the wii yet? What format are the virtual console games stored in on the machine? I understand they are only stored on the system memory and not on the SD cards.

depending on how much nintendo spent of securing their service, (we all know nintendo's 10NES chip) you could possibly packet sniff a download in progress and check out what's going on. possibly even an exploit like PSO for gamecube.

This question has been asked here, and has been covered. Thus far, no one has figured it out yet.

As for possibly 'packet sniffing' which is what was done with DS when it was new, it is possible, but very very tedious, and would not be 100% perfect. You still have to figure out a few things 'in the blind'. I'm sure it will happen(And I will be glad when it does), but it's probably a good way off.

Ya, I saw some files for VC games, but I want to just download it and see if it comes with a Readme or anything like that. If it's figured out, this will be really awesome.

UPDATE: I just downloaded it, and it came with a Readme on how to make it work. So I'll be testing it right now and keep everyone updated on how it's going!

wii games cannot be played or downloaded illegally because if you do and try to run them or hack them nintendos own wiiconnect24 service will report a illegal rom on the console and send your ip address through the internet to nintendo to charge people with piracy

and what if you don't use WiiConnect24 or you have a dynamic ip address? they're more likely to block your serial number anyway. the trick is to make the wii think it's a legal rom.

TabletPC,
Thanks on the info. I couldn't find anything, not even with a Hex Editor. So scratch that Idea.

Hey tabletpc,

I know from the majority of your posts, that you're pretty young(Pretty darned young, because I'm young, and even *I* get this stuff), so I'll write off posts like that as ignorance, and being 'too young to understand or recall'.

It should, however, be noted:

Bomberman '93 was one of the best selling games the TurboGrafx ever got, probably second only to the Bonk series.

Also, Bomberman '93 was a pinnacle of the series, aside from improving the graphics, it was the first in the series to revitalize the gameplay, and make it much more multi-player friendly. The reason it's in the Virtual Shop, is because it was a hit for that manufacturer way-back-when; and because a lot of Bomberman fans recognize that title, because it took the series further. I also wouldn't mind seeing Super Bomberman 2(This further evolved the gameplay closer to what many fans fondly remember) or Super Bomberman 5(Mostly the same gameplay, just more [i]of[/it] with slight improvements, the last real step forward in the series before going 3D.

Occasionally, in situations like this, it is appropriate to release these titles on the shop.

Its pretty easy (though still illegal)

Just install the VC games using the wad installer on the homebrew channel.

I think he means by playing N64 roms on the Wii; not the VC Games.

You need to install the N64 Emulator "Wii64". Go to this website, it has all the information you need to know for the Emulator. You need to have the Homebrew Channel installed to use it.

I've tried the wii64 emulator. Game compatibility is BAD. None of the games I tried worked 100% Most of the ones I tried did not work at all.

Ya ok then. The best option would be the VC Games installed through the WAD Installer like penguin98 said.
