I'm new with the 360...What is all this firmware talk..Were do you get it???Is it like a mod chip like you use for the ps2?? Do you take your 360 apart or something?? I understand the xbox program, the dual layer burner, and the clone cd stuff..I just don't understand all this firmware talk?? Sorry..I'm stupid
Trying to deside between 360 and ps3?? Which one is going to be easier and better on the system to backup games? I appreciate any information??Thanks

To my knowledge modding the firmware is basically modifying the program which makes the DVD drive in your 360 tick. It modify's it by altering the code so that the firmware will recognise media other than xbox360 disks, hence it can read burned disks. The process involved is quite simple, however i went and paid a guy $90 to do mine as i didn't want to botch it. No soldering or mod chips are required and it should only take about 15-20 mins.
This guy also told me that the new 360's can't be modded as they have figured out a way to glue the chip to the circuit board so until they can get around that.......don't buy a new 360....also don't ask me how the chip relates to not being able to mod it cos that confuses me also as i didn't think they needed to tamper with that. He also told me to stay away from the PS3's in terms of modding because they are meant to be extremely complicated and probobly won't be cracked for some time. Find an older model 360 if you can is my tip.
If anything i have said here is incorrect then please correct me.
