I just got one and i have a few questions. I know that not all versions can run homebrew games. can u tell me how can i check what version do i have and if i can put homebrew games in it? and another question is how big is the hard drive of the psp?(without the memory card)

-The PSP doesn't have a hard drive.

-To check your firmware go to Settings-->System Settings-->System Information

-Only firmware 1.5 and 2.71 can run homebrew. If you have a firmware that is lower than 2.71 but higher than 1.5, then you should upgrade to 2.71 to play homebrew.

Actually thats not true. If you're stuck with a psp that cant be downgraded there is always the option of the eloader. it doesnt load all homebrew but it can load some and i think it works up to firmware 2.8x. so if youre at 2.80 then atleast u can run some homebrew apps.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Doesn't it only work on 2.80 and not 2.8X? Anyway, to get the eLoader visit here:

Yeah it might be 2.8 and not 2.8x, oh well tho, atleast u can still run homebrew on a psp higher then 2.71.

One more Question, does the psp come with usb cable?

matters what pack you bought..a bundle packs comes with the usb port and just the system does not..

some of the packs do and some of the packs dont. but most usb cables will work. i lost mine and use my mp3 player data cable. Do you have a ta-082 motherboard? If you do I would look into homebrew enabler D and the devhook port for 2.71. If you dont have a ta-082 I would read up on downgrading.

its a certain type of motherboard sony created to thwart use of 1.5 and ultimately homebrew. if you have one of these it will brick your psp if you try to go before firmware 2.5. check this pic to distinguish yours

if you have the IC1003 on the right side that means you have a ta-082 and have to use the tutorial provided by eternalis.

Well it doesn't matter anyway you can still use the guide I posted no matter what the code is. But if its not ta-082 I would downgrade as it is easier to run homebrew on 1.5.
