I am looking to buy a modchip or a swapdisc but I dont know what one is a better choice the mod chip looks better but is it hard to install? The swap disc is it better or not as good because I heard you have to take out the disc each time you want to play a backed up game. Thanks if you have any suggestions please post.

A mod chip is more expensive, and i do not suggest you try installing it yourself without good knowledge of electronics and excellent
soldering skills. But a good mod chip is better than swap magic in
pretty much every way.
Here are my top 3 in order
1. DMS4 Pro SE (also have a DMS4 Pro SE EZI which is solderless)
2. Matrix Infinity
3. Cystal Chip V1.1
do some research before you decide as each one may have a unique feature you want. Like the DMS4 Pro chip has software to run a hard drive and a built in cheat code device
the Crystal Chip has DNAS auto patching so your back ups can play online without having to manually patch them.

and yes, with Swap Magic you have to swap discs every time you
play one. And with Swap Magic you will also need one other mod depending on which version PS2 you have.

i whole heartedly disagree wit that, by the time you buy the Swap Magic, throw countless discs in the trash because of failed attempts of rebuilding ISOs and the hair loss from the frustration of games that wont boot with SM and the hours you've wasted trying to get them to work you're $$$ ahead with buying a chip even if you have to pay to have it installed.

solderless means just that you do not have to solder it in, you snap two clips over the MOBO chips (and a little modification to the MOBO shield) and yes it'll work with your console. IF your slim is a version 12 you will have to install the laser fix though.

with WinDIP, google it.

tutorial for patching games for online play.

I do not disagree with you at all there KC. I am a firm beleiver in modchips and how much better they are than swapping.
But when i try to explain that over time a modchip will pay for iteself and cause you a lot less hassle, and have more features, and all that the cheap-o people still only look at the bottom line that Crap Magic will only cost them about $35-$40 for the package with all they need (2 discs and a headache).
where as a good soldered in mod chip ($50) with shipping your console for an install ($30) and install itself ($35) will run more in the range of $100
