Analog stick moving one direction by itself

Once I press down on the analog stick it goes down all the time after releasing it. I've just replaced it with a new one, but the problem is still there....
Anyone got any suggestions?

I had The Same Problem. It Seems When I replace my Screen, I stripped a Screw Jack on The face plate (I guess I tighten it to much) so The case was alittle lose I couldn't even tell or see it but when i loaded a game the joystick started to move i figured it out..
I had to buy an after market face plate only one site i found that sell them buy the 30 dollar one don't cheap yourself Trust me.

make sure the contacts are aligned too first.

When I apply a lot of pressure on the analog pad while playing it seems to be fine.
But it's not a nice way to play a game ;)

It sounds like you have it screwed in too tightly of the metal contacts arent aligned properly. I had the same problem with the first analog stick I ever repaired. Took it off, made sure it was aligned and the screws were barely snug and it worked like a charm.

Which screws should be loosend, the ones on the back of the PSP? Or the ones holding the analog stick?

Ah sorry I didnt specify. Im talkin about the two chrome ones on the inside of the psp that hold the analog stick in place.

i had the same problem after changing a faceplate. just do as hex said though and you should be fine.
