With swap magic 3.6, the only games that have to be patched are those on DVD-9 disks. This makes up about 2% of the games for the ps2. I wouldn't worry about patching, unless you're converting PAL to NTSC of some-such. Basically all backup games will work on SM 3.6, and the exceptions are usually games that aren't that good anyway ;) . Don't worry about patching until you find a game that dosen't work, and this will probably never happen.
Brilliant!

Hi there,
I have Gran Turismo 4, which is a DVD-9 game and it won't boot with Swap magic 3.6. You mentioned the word 'patched'. What does this mean, and what do I need to do in order to play Gran Turismo 4?

As it is now, it will not fit onto a regular DVD. You'll need to compress it to fit onto a standard DVD, or burn it onto a DVD+R Dual Layer disk.

Can you give me some steps on how to do this, and what do I need?
Also, is there any other version of swam magic that can boot DVD-9 disks, or anything else I can buy?

Swap Magic can boot DVD-9 Backups.
If you want to back your game up onto a DVD-9, then you'll need a blank DVD-9 disk and a burner that supports Dual Layer DVD+ disks. You'll also need some decent burning software- i.e. imgburn or Nero. As far as blank media goes, I have heard good things about the Verbatim DVD+R DL disks, but few others. Dual Layer blanks are still not "mainstream" technology; they cost in the range of %0.50 each.
Sorry about the last post; I was under the impression that you did not want to use a DVD-9, but wanted to backup your DVD-9 game to a DVD-5. This is significantly more difficult.
