I tried to back up one movie that is about 1:40 minutes long. Nero reports that the quality will be 78%. A different movie that is 2:01 long is reported at 100% quality. Yes I did set it for burning to a 4.7gb disc on both movies. Why is this happening? Shouldn't the longer movie be at a lower quality.

It all depends on how the movie studio encoded it. Some movies have a ridiculous high bitrate for no reason but to take up disc space. One example is Attack Force. Movies with a lot of action shots sometimes require these higher bitrates. Some movies can be transcoded without a noticeable difference. When it comes to compression, some people prefer to re-encode rather than transcoding.

@jimmy

Both "teflon & dialysis1" are right, it all depends how the original were made. For anything that's 65% and lower on Quality ratio, I prefer DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP 2.70 to encode.

Best of luck!!
